Examples of Dramas

Sign Language by Oscar Sharp:
The short film by Oscar Sharp represents the life of a middle aged man as he works holding a sign in busy London. I enjoyed every minute of watching this piece. I like it's humour, nice use of depth of field and simple progression through the dialogue. The music in the film relates largely to it's main character - demonstrated through the use of a light-hearted acoustic guitar. The character is believable and I think that is the successful element of this film in particular. The uplifting ending is my favourite part of the film where each of his 'work mates' say goodbye to him through the literal concept of 'sign language'. The character talks to the camera throughout the film, giving it a documentary-style.
I honestly cannot think of anything that I would change about this piece. I think if anything were any different it would distract from the kind nature of the main protagonist. I like that we do not empathise with the character, as he obviously loves his job and sees the best in it - portraying a moral theme to the audience.

The sound used within this piece is probably the most effective. It is quite sinister and often provides subtle audio, which is what I think demonstrates this style. Breathing sounds however are very prominent as they relate greatly to the theme of the film.
A new imagined space is implied as she enters the water and I like the way we see a point of view shot from the young girl as she looks down at her feet. The water is her fantasy space.
